I don’t often get given books, but when I am they have often gone on to become all time favourites. I hold them so dearly, and they are even more cherished because they were gifted. With one friend we exchange two books every year for our birthdays, and whilst our lives have changed massively since we started doing this (we’ve moved jobs, moved countries…), the book gifting continues. We are going strong even where traditional presents might have died by now and it is just delightful.
Dear friends: we should give books more! I might have a solution soon that can help you with the ‘but I’m not sure if you’ve already read it’ pain point 😉.
