Your Easter reading list is here
Nine book suggestions for however you're spending the long weekend
Easter brings with it one of the best things: time. Time to lie in a little longer. Time to step away from the noise. And, if you’re lucky, time to sit with a book. Whether that be by the pool, on a train, in the garden, or just curled up on the sofa.
Whether you’re chasing sun, staying local or craving a quiet break in the day, here’s a list of reads to inspire your Easter break.
Some of these, along with many others, are available in the Verse Pre-Loved Bookshop, so if something catches your eye, have a browse.
And if you’re looking for a beautiful, useful gift for someone this Easter (or just want to treat yourself), our subscriptions are open - thoughtful second-hand books, delivered every other month.
How to craft your Easter reading list
This is how I’d be putting a list together for you:
The nostalgic one: The Camomile Lawn by Mary Wesley
Set on the Cornish coast before and during the war, this novel hums with summer, family, and that bittersweet kind of memory. If you’re craving something warm and reflective, this is it.
Also available pre-loved in our store.
The it book: Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
A brand new release from arguably one of the greatest living authors. This is Adichie’s first work of fiction in over a decade. Lyrical, powerful, and compact… the kind of book you’ll want to read slowly, then immediately share.
The last-season read you might’ve missed: All Fours by Miranda July or Intermezzo by Sally Rooney
If you didn’t catch these last year/over the winter, now’s the time. Both are intimate, curious, and very much in conversation with desire and the mess of being human. All Fours has just made it to the 2025 Women’s Prize shortlist.
The intellectual one (great for poolside/public transport bragging): Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico
Clever and compact: a super short read about art, identity, work and the curated self. Translated from Italian and shortlisted for the International Booker 2025, it’s the kind of book that pairs beautifully with a sun-drenched café table and a cold drink.
The chill out: Welcome to Glorious Tuga by Francesca Segal
Sharp, clever and soaked in sunshine. This novel gives you just enough edge while still feeling like a lie-down-in-the-sun kind of read.
A few of these are in our Pre-Loved Bookshop now. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
The ‘I finally have the headspace to learn something’ one: A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
I re-read this book every year and always take something new from it. This Easter, I’ll be adding The Almanack of Naval Ravikant to the mix.
The White Lotus inspiration: Start Where You Are by Pema Chödrön
The book of the series. Gentle, grounding, and great for perspective. A perfect companion if your break involves thinking about what’s next, or just channelling your inner-Chelsea. You can also check out our round up of the books in the latest season of The White Lotus.
A classic you never got round to: The Outsider by Albert Camus
Short. Strange. Iconic. Rated one of the top 100 modern books you must read.
Whatever you choose, I hope you find something that feels just right for the break. The kind of book that stays with you long after the sun goes down.
