FAQs

1. How does the club work?

Every two weeks, you will receive a book. You’ll have two weeks to read as much (or as little!) as you like. You’ll post it on to the next reader before the two weeks are up. After 10 weeks, we’ll meet in person to discuss, trade books, and meet everyone else in the club.

2. What kind of books will we be reading?

We’ll be reading 5 books from the International Booker Prize longlist - all first time nominees, under 250 pages, and translated works. The goal is to discover new voices and perspectives. And enjoy reading.

3. Do I have to finish every book?

No! Reader’s rights to not finish. You do have to pass them on on-time and to have an opinion.

4. How do I pass the book on?

Every 2 weeks, you post your current book to the next reader. You can have a book sent directly to your postal address (name not required, you will receive an alias) or you can use an InPost locker service for extra privacy. You’ll receive full instructions when you sign up.

5. Who pays for postage?

Your first book will be shipped to you by us. Each member covers the cost of posting their book to the next reader.

  • By Royal Mail - large letter costs c£2.70

  • By InPost locker - small package to another locker (£1.99) or to an address (£2.89)

6. What happens if I fall behind?

You don’t have to finish the book, but you do have to keep them moving on time. This is your commitment to the rest of the club.

7. Is the club online or in person?

This is a fully offline experience. No groups, no online discussions. You’ll read and reflect in your own time. We will then all come together on 1 June in London.

8. What happens at the final meet up?

We’ll meet on 1 June in London to discuss the books, meet each other and trade books. You can keep one of the books from the club and you can trade for your favourite at the meet up. Expect great conversation, a mix of perspectives, and the joy of meeting your mystery club members.

9. How do I join?

Sign ups are open first via our newsletter - you get a one day exclusive window before it goes public. Spaces are strictly limited, by design. Once the spots are gone, they’re gone.

10. What’s included in the £30 fee?

This covers:

  • Access to all 5 books (RRP £65+)

  • A place in the club — this is a small, limited experience

  • An invite to the final meet up event in London — where we discuss, swap books and perspectives

11. I’m not in London, can I still join?

Yes! The reading experience is open to anyone in the UK. The final event is in London but you have 3 months notice to organise travel.

12. What if I still have questions?

Drop us an email at bookclub@weareverse.co.uk. Read our invitation to join us here.
